Gunnar Wuebben is a member of the Black Hawk (East) soil judging team that took first place at the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) soils judging last April.

Agriculture Scholarship Centre for Basis Trading Education, Inc., (ASC) is pleased to announce that Gunnar Wuebben, of Albany, Illinois and a Sophomore at Black Hawk College majoring in Agricultural Business Finance and Marketing and minoring in Agricultural Engineering, has been awarded a $2,500 scholarship for the Spring 2023 academic term, as well as enrollment in Basis Trading Essentials, a two-part course to introduce the student to the concepts of Basis Trading. The term basis trading refers generally to those trading strategies built around the difference between the spot price of a commodity and the price of a futures contract for that same commodity.

Gunnar is the son of Abe Wuebben and Heather Wuebben of Albany, Illinois. Gunner is a 2021 graduate of Erie High School, and is involved with the Soil Judging Team, the Trap Shooting Team, Student Government, Circle K, and the Agricultural Business Club. In his community, he is an IHSA Official for football and wrestling and is a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

ASC is a 501(c)(3) organization established by Don White to spread “Basis Trading” education to a wider section of the agriculture sector. Students majoring in agricultural business or finance and/or planning a career in the grain business are eligible to apply for the scholarship. For more information on this scholarship and others offered by ASC visit the website:   www.ascapply.org
