September 23rd at 7:30 the Savanna Museum will host a night of music as the group, Switchback, brings a blend of American roots and traditional Celtic styles to the museum. The well-known local band, Swanny Connection, will be opening the show. Follow the Savanna Museum on FB for details.

September 23rd & 24th the city-wide garage sale event takes place in Rock Falls and Sterling. Go to the FB event page for all the details.

September 23rd through the 25th the Bos Brothers Old Fashioned Fall Harvest Show in Erie offers 3 days of farm history and demonstrations. You are invited to join the Bos Brothers at their historic farm in rural Erie where they will be harvesting corn and beans plus there will also be demonstrations of early farm life including corn shelling, rug weaving, flour milling, blacksmithing, rock crushing, wood turning and more. September 24th is the 2nd Annual Oktoberfest Party in Oregon where you are invited to sample authentic German food, great beer, live music, games & prizes. This non ticketed event starts at 4 and costumes are encouraged. Go to the website for details – exploreoregonil.com/events

September 24th Timber Lake Playhouse will hold its Annual Fall Fest from noon to 6pm on the grounds of the Playhouse in Mt Carroll. The Event features pumpkin decorating, face painting, barrel rides, and games for the kids. In addition, craft beer from over ten area breweries will be available for tasting and Lena Brewery will be onsite with samples of their fine brews. September 24th, Coleta Sportsmen’s Club will be holding their annual Family Fun Day & Kid’s Fishing Derby. Registration is from 10-Noon and the kids’ fishing derby is 11:30 -1:30. This is a great opportunity for kids to try archery, BB guns, and fishing. There will also be wagon rides, a petting zoo, face painting, and bingo and lunch will be served all day. The Coleta Sportsmen’s Club is located 2 miles west of Coleta.

Saturday, Sept 24th Timber Lake Playhouse in Mt Carroll presents the premier Allman Brothers Tribute band, Midnight Rider. This tribute band plays all the hits that made the Allman Brothers famous. Show time is 7pm – go to the website for tickets – timberlakeplayhouse.org

September 25th the Lee County Historical Society will hold their 12th Annual Cemetery Walk from 1-3:30 at the Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon. This tour of historic Oakwood Cemetery features local actors dressed in period costumes that depict historical Dixonites from days gone by. New this year are mausoleum tours from 1 to 3 pm. Admission is a $5 donation and kids 12 and under are free.

September 25th Rock Falls tourism will host Jammin’ in the Park at the RB & W Park from noon to 6pm. There will be 8 different bands playing a variety of rock, country, blues, gospel and more, and food vendors will also be available.
