Through December 12th the Savanna Museum is hosting a Festival of Trees with over 50 beautifully decorated trees on display. Hours are 4pm to 7pm Monday thru Friday and noon to 5pm on Saturday & Sunday.
Every Friday, Saturday & Sunday in December you can drive thru the Holiday Light Display at Centennial Park in Rock Falls where local businesses, churches, schools, and other community organizations have decorated the shelters, fire truck, school house, caboose, fence lines, and green space throughout the park with dazzling lights & holiday displays for all to enjoy! Hours are 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and admission is free but donations are appreciated.
Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday thru December 19th, the Prophetstown First Responders are hosting the annual Light Up the Park drive through light display at Prophetstown State Park. This event is free but donations will be accepted. The display is open from 5-8 p.m. Follow the Prophetstown Police FB page for details.
For 2 weekends only, Dixon Stage Left will present the timeless Dickens classic tale, A Christmas Carol. December 3rd through the 5th and again the 10th thru the 12th, performances will take place at the Dixon Historic Theater and shows times are Friday and Sat at 7:30 and the Sunday matinee starts at 2 p.m. Go to dixonstageleft.org for tickets.
December 2 – 12 Timber Lake Playhouse in Mt Carroll will present the world premiere musical, WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD. Just in time for the holidays, this never-before-seen jukebox musical is the magical tale of how Santa and Mrs. Claus met and fell in love. December 3rd starting at 5 p.m. the Seasonal Sights and Sounds of Christmas celebration will take place in downtown Sterling with activities beginning at 5 p.m. The tree lighting at library plaza will feature live music and the arrival of Santa & Mrs. Claus. There will also be activities for the kids, horse and carriage rides, extended business hours, and fireworks over the riverfront begin at 8 p.m. Go to sterlingmainstreet.org for a full list of activities.
December 3rd & 4th you can tour the Dillon Home Museum in Sterling that is decorated for the holidays! Guided tours will be offered on Friday at 2:00, 3:00, 4:00 and 5:00 followed by a non-guided walk from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a performance by the Sterling High School Madrigals. Saturday guided tours will be offered at 10:00, 11:00, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. There is a $5/general admission fee or $4 for seniors over 60.
December 3rd the Dixon Christmas Walk starts at 5 p.m. at KSB Hospital with a Tree Lighting ceremony. Then you can join in on the Grinch’s Parade where prizes will be given for most festive outfits. In addition, there will be free photos with Santa Claus, horse-drawn wagon rides, strolling carolers, funnel cakes, face painting, the United Methodist Bell Choir, and much more! December 3rd & 4th is the Annual Mount Carroll Christmas Walk. The lighting of the Community Christmas Tree in the courthouse square Friday night at 6:00 p.m. followed by live music and the arrival of Santa on a fire truck. A Farmers Market will be held at the corner of Market & Main inside the Kraft Bldg. where many vendors will be set up for Holiday Shopping. Hours are Friday from 3:30 to 7:30 and Saturday from 9 to 2 and on Saturday the Library will celebrate the start of the holiday season with live music, story time & kids crafts from 9 until 1. December 3rd Fulton will hold its community Christmas Walk from 5-7:30 p.m. Follow the FB event page for details.
Saturday, December 4th Erie will host a Hometown Holiday. Santa and Mrs. Claus will meet their fans at the fire station from 3:30 – 5:30 with the Methodist Church hosting a soup supper from 4-6:30. The Winter Wonderland Parade will begin at 6:30 around the downtown triangle with a tree lighting to follow. For more information on all Erie events visit the Revitalize Erie Facebook page.
December 4th The Early American Crafters in Fulton are hosting a Christmas Walk at Heritage Canyon from noon to 6:00 p.m. Crafters will be inside the buildings demonstrating life skills from Christmas’ past and Santa and his elves will be there for kids of all ages to see and bring their letters for him. In addition, as darkness sets in, luminaries are lit and hung throughout the canyon to add to the Christmas feeling. There is no admission fee and there will be free cookies and hot drinks.
December 4th the city of Morrison will kick off their holiday season with a LIVE Window Walk beginning at 3pm followed by a parade at 4:30 p.m. The Lighting of the Community Christmas Tree will take place immediately following the parade.
