Sunday, May 22nd the Erie Fire Department will host its annual Pancake Day at the fire station, 807 9th Ave. serving from 7:00AM – 1:00PM. Menu: Pancakes (With M&M’s if wanted) Scrambled Eggs, Sausage Patties, Coffee, Milk, Water. The Cost is a Donation. All proceeds will be used towards needed equipment and supplies.
Every Saturday & Sunday in May, Havencrest Castle in Savanna will be offering limited public tours on weekends-only. Hours are 10am to 4pm and the self-guided tours are $25 with veterans and children under 18 at $20. The tours include an optional audio program that you can dial up on your personal cell phone. May 20th at 4:30pm the Savanna Public Library will sponsor a live Animal Program presented by Hoo Haven, a certified wildlife rescue organization that helps sick and injured animals in our area. The wildlife rehabilitation staff from “Hoo” Haven will bring a variety of rescue animals & birds.
May 21st, the Morrison Garden Club will host its annual plant sale from 9am – 1pm in the Community Room at Odell Library in Morrison. There will also be Master Gardeners on hand to give advice on the care of the plants you purchase.
May 21st, YMCA Camp Benson in Mt Carroll will hold a Community Day from 10 to noon. This morning of family fun will include scaling the climbing wall, taking a ride on the zip line, braving the Twilight Zone or just relaxing and playing board games in the Dining Hall. May 21st & 22nd the 2022 Railroad Days celebration takes place at the Rochelle Railroad Park from 10am to 5pm both days. This 2-day event will feature live music, a display by the Blackhawk Model Railroad Club, rock-climbing wall, bounce house, food and much more. On Sunday, Operation Lifesaver, an organization dedicated to helping people avoid being hurt or killed on railroad property, will be on site. Follow the event FB page for details.
