United Way’s Verhulst To Retire

Submitted by Dr. Sara Dail UWWC Board of Directors

Prophetstown’s Diana Verhulst, United Way of Whiteside County’s Chief Executive Officer since November 2016 announced her retirement as of November 20, 2020.

Diana succeeded Russ Siefken Jr., who led United Way for 24 years.

During her four years with United Way, Diana took significant steps to build revenue and create new community impact programs, add partner agencies, and engage new donors.

She also moved United Way of Whiteside County into the digital era by creating and launching a digital outreach program and a monthly newsletter which will launch in November.

She was active in United Way of Illinois and sat on the executive board of Illinois 2-1-1, as well as participating on other community impact committees such as Friends of PADS and the Whiteside County Healthier Communities Partnership, among others.

Diana is only retiring from full-time work, however; she will work part- time as the minister for Franklin Grove Church of the Brethren in Lee County while also attending Bethany Theological Seminary in Indiana to achieve her master’s degree in divinity.

The Board of Directors has commenced a search for Diana’s successor and, if interested, email cover letter, resume, salary requirements, and three professional references to uwwcexecsearch@gmail.com.
