The EP Lady Panthers had eight athletes competing in seven events on the first day of the IHSA State Track Finals in Charleston. Senior Riley Packer was the only Panther to qualify for the finals on Saturday qualifying in the 800m.

Riley ran a PR of 2:25.93 to earn the twelfth and final position in the finals.

The Panthers came up just short in two other events. Kennedy Buck placed 14th in the 400m running a PR of 1:01.36. The 4x800m Relay team also placed 14th with a PR of 10:24.56. The group was made up of Dylan Chandler, Jade Nickerson, Jillian Norman and Riley Packer.

Buck also competed in the 200m taking 18th in 27.61 and placed 19th in the shot put with an effort of 10.30m.

Pole Vaulter Olivia Purvis set a PR clearing 2.90m to place 17th and Hayley Wuebben did not make her starting height.

Brianna Neumiller had a best effort in the discus of 28.64m to place 27th.

Coach Liz Green said,” We had some PRs but there was also some frustrations. Kennedy had a really quick turnaround from the 400m to the 200m, which really hurt her time. Hayley had some trouble with the set up of the pole vault pit and Brianna just couldn’t find her release point in the discus.

The team will have a day off before they cheer on Packer on Saturday.
