Small Business Saturday This Weekend

Each year on the last Saturday of November, Small Businesses are recognized for their contribution to local economies. American Express launched the shopping holiday in 2010, at the height of the Great Recession, as a way of redirecting holiday shopping to local stores. A decade later, it’s observed in all 50 states, and in 2011, the Senate passed a resolution recognizing Small Business Saturday.

Several of Prophetstown’s Main Street businesses will have extended hours on Saturday before and after the parade. An added incentive will be provided by Thicksten’s popcorn which will be open from 9 a.m. until after the parade.

In Erie, Blooms 2 will be open 9-2. The Shed will be open 9-2 and will have 10% off Christmas décor and 15% off clothing. They will also have 2 giveaways that customers can enter.

Please get out and patronize your local small businesses this Saturday.
