Almost a year to the day that Jenna Scifres-McClelland opened her store front business on Main Street in Prophetstown she has moved to a larger space just a few doors down from her current location.
“I have a tons more space in this location,” said the Morton native. Scifres creates handmade jewelry featuring necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings. She can also create custom personalized pieces in her workshop. The vast majority of her items are sold on-line.
Its been a busy twelve months for the entrepreneur as she opened her original shop, married her fiancé Nick McClelland, grew her operation, and now bought a bigger space to keep up with the demand for her products.
Scifres-McClelland bought the building at 338 Washington Street in August, which housed Girlfriendz Boutique for the past several years.
The growth of the business is evident with the number of independent retailers selling her products growing from just under 100 a year ago to over 250 today. She also sells her items on several platforms: Etsy, Amazon, jennascifres.com, and most recently Jane. You can also find her on Facebook.
One new addition to the business will be the return of regular in-store shopping hours, which she had discontinued at her previous location due to a lack of space. She will now welcome shoppers on M-W-F from Noon-4 and Sat. Noon-2.
The owner has plans to have activities on parade day in Prophetstown on Nov. 27 and a Holiday Hop & Shop on Dec. 3 & 4 along with other shops in Prophetstown, Erie, and Port Byron.
She describes her work as, “a minimalist approach to making quality, comfortable, handmade jewelry that makes a bold statement in its simplicity.” Obviously people love her products as she continues to grow her line and adds to the growing number of successful on-line business that call Prophetstown home.
