Morrison Junior High 6th grade students were recently inspired to give back after reading the book The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind as part of their English/Language Arts curriculum.
The students sponsored a “Bring-A-Friend” dance in March to raise funds to donate to a pair of organizations. Their goal was to raise money to be split between a public school in Macha, Zambia that the students have been in touch with and the Morrison Rotary Club.
Around $1,650 were raised and donated. Several of the 6th grade students were able to attend the recent Rotary meeting to present a check for $825. The kids picked the Morrison Rotary Club because they are aware of activities the club does to support the city of Morrison.
