Prophetstown’s Lighted Christmas Parade & Light Up The Park Returning


It took an extra year but the 36th annual Prophetstown Lighted Christmas parade will be back after being cancelled last year due to Covid concerns. Along with the parade, Light Up The Park will also be back after its inaugural debut last year.

Prophetstown Proud has announced that many of the usual activities will return along with the parade on Saturday, November 27th. This year’s parade theme is “Candyland” with all participants asked to register their entry on the Prophetstown Proud Website.

Check-in and lineup will begin at 5:15 pm on West Railroad St. and Lafayette St. Access to the lineup area will be from Locust St. and W. 3rd St. The parade will begin at 6:30 P.M.

Main Street will be closed to parking the afternoon of parade day.

Parade Day Activities:

Shop Small Business Saturday: All Day

Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Fire Station — 3:00-5:30

Soup and Sandwich Meal Fire Station — 3:30-6:00

Reindeer Dash — 4:00

Horse and Carriage Rides — 4:00-6:00

Face Painting: 4:00-6:00

Letters to Santa and other kids’ events throughout the evening.

FNB Hospitality Stand– 5:00 – End of Parade

Love Light Tree Lighting — 5:30

Parade –6:30


This year, Light Up the Park will be hosted by the City of Prophetstown. Parade entrants are encouraged to register for both events and give the public a chance to see their creations for a second time in the Prophetstown State Park during December.

The LUP drive thru event will be held on three consecutive weekends (Fri. Sat. Sun.) starting December 4th with a last showing on Friday, December 24th.

Visitors are welcome from 5-8pm with admission by donation.
