Multiple events are planned to celebrate the July 4th Holiday in Prophetstown beginning Friday, July 1st.

Friday, July 1st

The Winning Wheels Concert Series will continue its weekly free Friday concerts with Mountain Swallower performing on the stage at Eclipse Square Veterans Memorial Park from 7-9PM.

Saturday, July 2nd

The Prophetstown Park District kicks off the fun with their annual Streetscape event where artists are invited to paint a square on Riverside Drive in front of the Prophetstown High School. Artists can preregister or register the day of the event. Registration Form. Painters can begin their creations at 9:00 AM. Cost is $10 per square.

Runners then get their chance to compete in Run Around 5K and Fun Run starting at 6:30 at the corner of Ferry St. and Riverside Dr. The 5K begins at 7:00PM. Register on-line HERE .

Sunday, July 3rd

Sunday begins with the return of the Firecracker 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament sponsored by the PHS Class of 2025. The event will take place in the Prophetstown High School parking lot with games beginning at 8:00 AM. The Prophetstown Boy Scouts will be selling food, drinks, popsicles, and snow cones throughout the day.

The Prophetstown Fire Department then takes over the celebration highlighted by a fireworks show over the Rock River at dusk. The department has added several new activities this year, with the emphasis on kids.

A horse shoe tournament will begin on the Prophetstown State Park at 10:00AM. Registration will be done on-site the day of the event.

Prophetstown Proud will be hosting BINGO in the Park from 2-4PM at the main pavilion. Strictly donation-based games with Prophetstown Proud gift cards awarded to winners.

Several activities for kids will begin starting at 2:00PM with a donation of $5 requested for a wristband that can be used throughout the four hours of activities.

Activities will include a variety of structured games for children ages 3 and above, which will rotate every 10 minutes.

Games include:

  • Gaga Ball
  • Parachute
  • Shoe Flip
  • Sponge Ball Toss
  • Frisbee Target
  • Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Shoes
  • Foot Races for all ages will convene approximately 3:00PM

Prizes will be provided by the Prophetstown Fire Dept.

The Farmer’s Rock Throwing Classic will begin around 3:30PM with events including rock skipping and kerplunking.

Shaw’s Marketplace will be holding a cookout at the entrance to the park (top of the hill-Park St.) from 2-8PM.

A Rubber Duck Race will take place at 5:00PM with three prizes: 1st -$100, 2nd- $50 3rd-$25 3rd. Racing ducks can be purchased for $5 in the park prior to the event or from local firefighters on Saturday at Shaw’s Weekly Cookout and at the 3-on-3 tournament.

Music will be provided by Where The Blacktop Ends from 7-9PM
