Pat’s Table Ends the Season on a High Note

By Sarah Ford, AP Staff Writer

Maybe it was the aroma of hamburgers on the grill, or word quickly spreading on what was for dinner, or that the Leon Ladies provided dessert, or that it was the last dinner of the season – whatever the reasons, Monday night’s meal at Pat’s Table was a success, with servers running out of food before the hour was done.

On the menu was hamburgers, french fries, pasta salad, condiments, and desserts. Meal services were provided by Boy Scout Troop 94 and Prophetstown United Methodist Church members, and the Leon UMC Ladies provided a delicious selection of homemade desserts, including pineapple upside-down cake.

Pat’s Table volunteer Glenna Spotts estimated that 90 meals were served, in addition to a dozen or so made to-go. The burgers and fries were gone by 5:45 p.m.

The organization’s volunteers will take the summer off, with the monthly meals to resume after Labor Day. The Pat’s Table board thanks all the community organizations and volunteers who gave of their time to help out over the past year.

They also give special thanks to cooks Paula Rodriguez and Linda Temple for donating their time and talent in cooking all the meals for Pat’s Table this year. They lovingly prepared everything but the desserts, ensuring the legacy of Pat Stewart lives on.

Have a safe, enjoyable, and long-lasting summer!
