The EP Panther girls continued their winning ways Friday afternoon by winning a competitive battle at Bureau Valley 5-1.

The Storm were fresh off an upset of undefeated Princeton Thursday and battled EP to a scoreless tie through 3 innings. EP managed only one walk during those innings and BV did not have a baserunner.

In the Panther fourth after an out, Jaden Johnson reached on an error by the shortstop. Mya Jones then tripled to right center scoring Johnson on a close play at the plate. Jaylynn Hamilton then laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to score Jones with the second run. The Storm then started a rally of their own with a leadoff single. After a nice catch by Hannah Kirkpatrick in left field, BV’s next hitter doubled to right center driving in a run. After stealing third, she was left stranded there as Aylah Jones struck out the next 2 Storm batters to end the threat. “That was a crucial time in the game and Aylah came through like she has all year. It really took the wind out of their sail and we shut them down the rest of the way” stated coach Kerrie McDonnell after the game.

EP got 2 more in the fifth as Sydney Schwartz walked with one out. Aylah Jones tripled to right center scoring Schwartz and then scored one out later on an RBI single to center by sister Mya. The Panthers tallied one more time in the seventh on a double by Aylah and RBI single by Johnson.

Jones retired the last 11 Storm batters she faced, striking out 8 of those batters. She finished the game with 13 strikeouts while only allowing 2 hits and not walking anyone.

The team finished a busy week with 4 wins and start back up again Monday afternoon at Riverdale in a battle with the Rams. EP is now 8-0 in conference and 11-1 overall.
