The EP boys lost a heart-breaker Tuesday night at Peru St. Bede 51-49.
The Panthers started well with an Eric Robinson put back giving them a 9-6 lead. St. Bede closed the opening 8 minutes on a 10-3 run and led 16-12 after one.
A Bryce Rosenow layup with 4 minutes left in the half tied the score at 16. St. Bede took the lead 23 -18 at halftime.
Four consecutive turnovers by EP to start the third dug them a 27-18 hole. An old fashion 3-point play by Clayton Johnson and two 3-pointers from Dawson Haggard kept the Panthers within 9 after 3 quarters.
Nathaniel Johnson drew a charge to start the final stanza which seemed to ignite EP. A Rosenow 3 and Clayton Johnson put back got EP within 4. The game stayed close throughout the 4th. Rosenow’s bucket with 22 seconds closed the gap to 2 but turnovers by both teams ended the contest with St Bede prevailing.
The 5-10 Panthers continue with road games Friday at Bureau Valley and Saturday at Morrison.
