Taking on Mercer County and Fulton on the road Thursday night, EP wrestlers lost one match on a tie breaker and the other by a slim 3 point margin.
The Panthers and Steamers were tied at 39 at the end of 14 matches with the Steamers getting the win on criteria. Mercer County got the come from behind win with a fall in the final match of the night to earn a three point victory.
One highlight of the evening for the Panthers was a win by 106# Sophia Wheeler as she won by fall with seven seconds remaining in her first varsity match.
EP’s Connor Johnson and Luke Otten picked up two wins by fall.
The Panthers will host a duel meet tonight (Friday) with Illini Bluffs and Rock Island Alleman and then host their annual invitational on Saturday.
