Last football season going into week #5, the EP Panthers were 2-2 after coming off a nail biting win over Rockridge. They went on to win their final 5 games. While not arriving at 2-2 in the same manner this year, Friday’s homecoming game with Orion begins a 4 game home stand against teams that EP defeated last season.

Coach Jesse Abbott says that means “Everyone is going to be gunning for us, looking for payback from last year.” That is an unfamiliar position for the EP program. As the defending TRAC West champions and with a playoff win last year, the home game stretch will determine if the team can return to the level of success they achieved in 2021.

The team will take the field on Friday with several players returning to the line-up including senior quarterback Jack Minssen. The senior missed the past two weeks following concussion protocol after the loss at St. Bede.

Orion comes in with a 2-2 mark following a forfeit win last week with Riverdale.

Abbott expects to see a balanced offensive attack from the Chargers and hopes last week’s decisive loss to Rockridge will have his team ready to get back in the win column.

Senior running back, Tyler Ballard, is also featured in this week’s edition of Panther Points Preview.
