The EP Panther cross country team traveled to Hall on Thursday for a dual meet that the Panthers dominated.
Hall had just four competitors in the boys’ race and three in the girls’ which precluded any team scores being kept.
The Lady Panthers took the top four spots in their race with Dylan Chandler leading the way followed by Madyson Bushaw, who has shown steady improvement all season in her first year of the sport. Senior Jorden Robinson was third followed by the freshmen duo of Jillian Norman and Brooke Lalley. Kara Schipper and Jade Nickerson were the sixth and seventh finishers for EP.
A surprise in the boys’ race as freshman Jacob Gibson, who has been running well all season, took first overall and lead a sweep of the top three places for EP.
Carter Jepson was second with Andrew Bomleny taking third. Charlie Link in sixth and Alex Gustaf in seventh finished the scoring for the Panthers.
Coach Liz Green said Gibson looked strong at the outset of the race, but began to falter after the second mile. Some encouraging words from assistant Panther coach Tom Green did the trick as Gibson found another gear and won the race by sixteen seconds over teammate Carter Jepson.
After the race Gibson told his coach, “It was like he knew exactly what I was thinking.”
The Panthers will celebrate Senior Night at Prophet Hills Country Club on Tuesday hosting Morrison and Rockridge.
