Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, rural Erie. Memorials may be made to the family for a memorial to be established.
Nancy was born January 3, 1937, in Galesburg, the daughter of Gale and Marie (Bivens) Ford. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Portland Township and graduated from Prophetstown High School. Nancy married Bill Kay on May 18, 1957. They made their home in the Springhill area. She cleaned the dental office in Erie for 30 years while also working at Shaheen’s Market in Erie for 23 years.
Nancy was a member of the Erie United Methodist Church and had been an election judge for Springhill Township. She enjoyed baking and is known for her famous sugar cookies, apple pies, cinnamon rolls and fudge. Nancy was given the name “Honey” by her oldest grandchild and was forever known by all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Honey.” Her biggest joy in life was her family.
She is survived by her three children, Debbie Kay, Patti (Troy) VanDeWostine and Dan Kay, all of Erie; grandchildren, Josh (Meagan) VanDeWostine, Jake (Joni) VanDeWostine, Jesse (Katie) VanDeWostine, Kayla (Adam) Brown, Pippen VanDeWostine and Emma Kay; great-grandchildren, Tucker, Landon, Sayer and Stella VanDeWostine, Braylon and Camden VanDeWostine, Maya and Kali VanDeWostine, Jayce and Levi Brown, Serenity Moore, Ema and Sarah Huizenga; brothers, Larry (Diane) Ford, Prophetstown, and Eddie (Carol) Ford, Sparks, Nev.; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Sally Powell, Pat Noblin and Carol Border.
