Marshall Goodson, 71, of Erie, IL passed away at Allure of Prophetstown, IL on August 12, 2022.

Services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at 10:00am at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home in Erie, IL. Visitation will be on August 15, 2022, from 5:00pm-7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Fenton Cemetery, Fenton, IL following services. Memorials may be made to Erie Ambulance.

Marshall Goodson was born on September 13, 1950 at Moline Public Hospital, Moline, IL, the son of Osman and Marlyn (Collier) Goodson. Marshall graduated from Erie High School in 1968. Marshall married Shirley Lee Ferguson in Fenton, IL on October 29, 1970. Together they had their son Stacy Ray Goodson. Marshall worked at John Deere for 34 years, retiring from Harvester Works in 2003. Marshall served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era.

Marshall was an avid Fighting Illini, Cubs, and Bears fan. He often enjoyed attending Cubs and Fighting Illini games to support his favorite teams. He had a love for reading and owned many books. Marshall enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and bowling in his bowling league. He had a passion for baseball and was a former president and coach for the Erie Baseball Association.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Lee (Ferguson) Goodson, Erie, IL; son Stacy Ray Goodson, Erie, IL; Brothers Ronald Young, Davenport, IA, Michael (Vicki) Goodson, Erie, IL, Charles Goodson, Cordova, IL, and Kevin (Chris) Goodson, Port Byron, IL; along with many nieces and nephews, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Preceding him in death are his parents, and his in-laws, Joy and Donald Ferguson.
