Elizabeth (Verhulst) Luckman, 67, of Elgin, IL died peacefully surrounded by her family on October 7, 2021 at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL after a long battle following her liver transplant.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband of 44 years Carey; their three children, Julie (Tim Gabel), Becca (Chris Kalicki), and Jon (Jenn); two grandchildren Abby and Dylan; her three brothers Larry (Sheila Schultz), Bob (Diana), and Jim (Suzanne), and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Joey Verhulst.
Elizabeth was born in 1954. She graduated from Prophetstown High School and went on to attend the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign earning a B.A. in education. During her time at the U of I she met Carey and they married in 1977.
For over 30 years, Elizabeth lived in Pontiac, IL. She will be remembered by many for her years of service in the Livingston County Circuit Clerk’s office and for her love of the Chicago Blackhawks, Cubs, and Bears, even in their bad seasons.
A private family memorial service for Elizabeth will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in Prophetstown, IL. In lieu of flowers and to honor Elizabeth’s legacy as both an organ recipient and donor, the family asks that donations be sent to Gift of Life Transplant House in Rochester, MN or Mayo Clinic
