DeWayne A. Hussong, 89 of Rock Falls died Wednesday January 25, 2023 at his home.
He was born on June 28, 1933 in Fenton, the son of Everett W. and Mildred L. (Nebergall) Hussong. He attended Yorktown Grade School and was a 1952 graduate of Tampico High School. DeWayne was drafted into the US Army and served from 1953 – 1955. He married Joyce A. Sandrock on January 11, 1953 in Rock Falls. Together they farmed in the Tampico for many years retiring in 1993 and shortly thereafter moved to Rock Falls. DeWayne enjoyed spending time with the family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a member of New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; their daughters: Connie (Lynn) Von Holten of Sterling and Carol (Gene) Vandermoon of Rock Falls; five grandchildren: Ryan (Dee Anna) Von Holten, Jeff (Lori) Von Holten, Rachel (James) Wayne, Scott (Tanya) Vandermoon and Traci (Scott) Verdery; eleven great grandchildren: Alex, Sammy and Jacob Von Holten; Eleanor and Lucy Von Holten; Mackenzie and Grant Wayne; Maddie and Jackson Vandermoon; Ella and Emerson Verdery.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday January 28, 2023 from 9:30 – 11 AM at New Life Lutheran Church in Sterling. The funeral will follow at 11 AM. Burial will conclude at Oak Knoll Memorial Park.
