In a press release shared on Wednesday morning, Morrison Community Hospital announced it will be taking over the clinic operations of the Genesis Health Center, Erie Clinic, effective June 17 one day before it was scheduled to be closed.
Last March clinic patients received a letter advising them that a decision had been made to close the facility due to ,“unprecedented financial pressures” signed by Dr. Kurt Andersen, President of Genesis Health System.
In April about 50 people carrying signs and banners rallied in front of the Clinic to show their displeasure with the decision by Genesis to close the facility. many praised the work of the staff and especially health provider, Ruth Fiedler-Eaton N.P., who will be retained.
MCH, CEO Pam Pfister, said in the release, “Ruth Fiedler-Eaton has been providing services to the Erie community for 25 years with a strong commitment to her patients, and we are pleased that we will be able to continue the clinic operations and sustain healthcare services for this community.”
The clinic serves patients from a wide area and the news will no doubt be welcomed by the facility’s clients.
“Ruth and her clinical team will complement our hospital and clinic services, and this new relationship reconfirms our commitment to support rural healthcare”, Pfister said. Morrison Community Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital and has provided patient focused care for over 80 years.
