United Way of Whiteside County is once again this summer offering their “Let’s Feed Our Children” program to area communities. The organization provides free lunches for children with the help of churches and service organizations. The program begins this week.
Lunches are available beginning at 11:30 on various days and at these area locations:
Prophetstown – Wednesdays at Eclipse Square, hosted by the First Lutheran Church of Prophetstown with help from the United Methodist Church. There will also be bubbles, balls, frisbees, jump ropes, and more for the kids to play with after they eat. Pat’s Table is also offering free lunches on Mondays from 11:30 to 12:30 at the Prophetstown Methodist Church.
Lyndon – Wednesdays at Richmond Park hosted by Trinity Baptist Church.
Tampico – Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays at the Tampico Community Building at 106 W. Market hosted by the Tampico Methodist Church.
Erie – Margaret Park (Erie Triangle) Wednesdays and Fridays hosted by Newton, Fenton and Erie churches.
The Let’s Feed Our Children program began in 2001 and continues to be a well-run, well-supported program in Whiteside County. Donations of PB & J or fold-over sandwich bags may be dropped off at your church or at Sauk Valley Foodbank 1801 Plant Road, Sterling, IL 61081.
