Despite winning just two events the Lady Panther track team used their depth to win the 12 team 45th Annual Fulton Lady Steamer Invitational on Tuesday.

The Panthers took first with 101 points to runner-up Fulton 99 and Clinton’s 98.

The team standings were tight throughout the night with the Panthers down by three points to Clinton heading into the 4×400 relay. The Panthers clinched the title taking second in the race behind the Steamers.

Panther head coach Liz Green said it was a great night. “We were all so happy to get to finally run after having 3 meets cancelled.”  

Highlights for the Panthers included first place finishes by Riley Packer in the 800 with a season best 2:30. She also anchored the winning 4×800 relay and the meet deciding 4×400 relay.

Dominique Robinson threw 84′ for a PR and 2nd place in the discus.

Sophomore Jillian Norman ran a career best in the 1600 and “Ran one of the gutsiest races of the night,” said Green.

Kennedy Buck ran a 1:03.6 PR to take 2nd in the 400 and also had a PR of 27.4 in the 200 grabbing 2nd. The sophomore added a fourth place finish in the shot put.

Brooke Lalley – 3200, 2nd. Avery Olinger – High Jump, 3rd. Madyson Bushaw – Triple Jump, 3rd.
4 x 400 F/S Relay – 3rd; Olinger, Olivia Purvis, Alexis Anderson, Norman. 4 x 800 Relay – 1st; Jade Nickerson, Chandler, Norman, Packer.

“Several personal bests and the kids really wanted to win,” added Green. 

The Panthers will host the Ed Schmidt Invitational on Friday.
