In a game that was close throughout the Lady Panthers held on down the stretch to take home a road win against TRAC West rival Orion 41-39 on Monday night.
The Panthers were down late in the first quarter but battled back to lead 11-9 after one. EP led the entire second quarter going up 23-17 for their biggest lead of the night, with 2minutes remaining. A 3-ball by Orion’s Abbott in the final seconds made it a 25-22 Panther lead at the half.
The teams played an even third quarter with the Panthers holding on to a slim lead and ended the quarter on a buzzer beating lay up by Hannah Huisman to take a 33-29 lead into the final eight minutes.
A three-point bucket pulled the Chargers within two at 39-37 with 3:30 remaining. Both teams failed to convert another basket the rest of the game with scoring coming at the free throw line where the Panthers managed to covert just enough for the win. They struggled all night from the 15 foot mark going just 7/20 with the Chargers going 9/15 in a game that saw both teams in foul trouble in the first half.
Kennedy Buck had 11 to lead EP with Hannah Huisman and Reagan Sibley each adding 9. Abbott led the Chargers with 13 including three, 3-balls.
The F/S Panthers lost a tough one 30-27.
The Lady Panthers, 10-12 (3-6), will look to avenge a loss to Morrison 18-7 (6-2) earlier in the season on Thursday when they host the Fillies starting at 5:30PM.
