The EP Lady Panthers ventured to Abington-Avon High School on Saturday morning to take part in the 2023 MC Sport & More/Advanced Rehab Girls Basketball Shootout with 16 teams participating. The Panthers took on North Fulton in the second game of the day and came away with a 51-36 loss after giving up the lead mid-way through the third quarter.
Both teams were dialed in from long-range as they combined for 14 three-point shots in the contest with the Wildcats’ Harr connecting on four.
The Panthers trailed by four after the first quarter and kept the game close trailing 23-21 at the half.
EP grabbed the lead half-way through the third quarter but could not hold on. “We took the lead in middle of the third quarter but struggled to finish in the fourth,” said coach Chris Brown. “We were plagued by to many turnovers and missed on some good opportunities.” The Panthers were outscored by 13 in the second half generating just two points in the final eight minutes.
Seven Panthers broke into the scoring column with sophomore, Aubrey Huisman leading EP with 8. Kennedy Buck had 7 with Hannah Huisman contributing 6. Harr led all scorers with 25 collecting 10 in the first quarter.
“Hopefully with a good full week of practice we can get back on track and get some things fixed after a rough week of playing some really good competition,” added Brown
The Lady Panthers will have the week off before returning to action on Monday, December 18th when they travel to Riverdale.
