Illinois State Police Investigation Leads To Arrest For Drug Induced Homicide

THOMSON – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigations Zone 2 officials  announce the arrest of 23-year-old Saidrick Thomas of Savanna, IL for Drug Induced Homicide  (Class X Felony) and Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Class 2 Felony).

On March 2, 2022 the Thomson Police Department requested ISP to lead a death investigation involving an alleged drug overdose of 28-year-old Amy LaShelle of Thomson, IL. As a result of the investigation, on February 7, 2024, the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office approved the above-mentioned charges for Thomas. Thomas is currently being held in the Iowa Department of Corrections on unrelated charges. 

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
