Finnicum Receives Basketball Honors

Former Prophetstown High School basketball standout Buck Finnicum has continued his basketball legacy with his son Garrett earning multiple honors for his high school team, Ridgefield Christian, in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Garrett was named to The Best Under the Sun team, sponsored by The Sun newspaper, representing teams from Northeast Arkansas. 

Finnicum has had a tremendous career at Ridgefield Christian being named all-state and all-conference all three years of his varsity career.

This past season he averaged 25 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds to earn All-State and All-State tournament honors for the 1A-3 champion Warriors. Garrett was part of a team that won 72 games over three seasons. They won or tied for the regular season conference championship each of those three years and won the district (conference) tournament in 2020-21. 

Buck Finnicum was member of the Prophet basketball team that made a run to the Elite 8 in 1974.

    I was from Erie but followed P-Town basketball closely. The 73 and 74 seasons were incredible. The atmosphere in the gym on game nights was electric. Great memories!
