Erie Fire Department Welcomes Two New Firefighters

Skylar Steimle will be the first female firefighter in the district’s history and the fourth generation of her family to serve. Her dad Jeff Steimle has 22 years of service with the Erie Fire Department and her mom Ali has 21 years as an EMT. Skylar, 23, graduated from Western Illinois University in May with a bachelor’s degree in biology.

Brice Bolhous also joins the department to serve alongside his father-in-law, Captain Phil Garrison, and his brother-in-law, firefighter Jordan Garrison. Brice and his wife Katelyn have three kids, and he likes to fish and play guitar in his free time.    

EFPD is a volunteer department that serves over 120 square miles. The department consists of two ambulances, seven fire/rescue vehicles, one rescue boat, 28 volunteer firefighters, and 26 EMTs.
