Despite having their season moved to the spring, the EP volleyball team kept its tradition of raising funds for and awareness of breast cancer. during the month of October.
The team was able to meet this fall using contact days granted by the IHSA. During that time they also conducted fundraising activities and featured Breast Cancer patients’ stories on the team’s Facebook page.
Their efforts also caught the eye of WQAD Chanel 8’s sports reporter Celia Palermo. “Honestly, I just saw Coach Bruns posting these testimonials on the EP VB Facebook page from women in the Erie-Prophetstown communities who had battled breast cancer. It was amazing to see how many stories she was able to share of those touched by the disease, and how the program has honored them and rallied around them. Personally, my aunt passed away from breast cancer when I was in high school after battling the disease for several years so it definitely hit close to home. Truly amazed by the efforts the EP program has made over the years to raise money for a cure!”
The Panthers were recently featured on a News 8 sportscast. Check out the story.
