The Prophetstown Fire Protection District celebrated Emergency Medical Services Week with food, giveaways, and plenty of from the public.
PFPD Ambulance Services Director, Julie Pope, arranged several events to connect with the communities they serve.
Despite a hectic day, EMS staff and an ambulance paid a visit to Prophetstown Elementary School to allow students to take a tour of an ambulance and ask questions of the first responders. Later in the week Britos Mexican Food Truck served free meals to EMS staff as the public was also invited to take part.
A drawing was held among EMS staffers for a portable patio cooler, won by Christin Roman which was donated along with the food by Teresa Bielema, Country Financial.
The responders are an often overlooked asset of the communities they serve, but if you find yourself in need of emergency medial services, they always answer the call.
