The EP baseball Panthers scored their lone run in the first inning and committed five errors en route to a 10-1 home loss to Newman on Friday. Evan Bushman pitched a complete game for the Comets giving up 5 hits, 1 run and striking out 6. Braylon Swertfeger took the loss for the Panthers going five innings giving up 5 hits, 3 earned runs, striking out 3 and walking 3.

Brendan Tunink got the Comet offense of rolling with a leadoff double as Newman scored twice in their first at bat. EP responded in the bottom of the first with back-to-back doubles by Parker Rangel and Logan Copeland after two were out to make it a 2-1 game after one.

Newman tacked on a run in the second and added four more in the top of the fourth fueled by a pair of walks, 2 singles and a Panther error.

Bushman did not allow a Panther baserunner over the last four innings.
