Due to the weather forecasted for this weekend, the City of Morrison has declared a SNOW EMERGENCY effective tomorrow, Saturday, January 1, 2022 at 8:00 a.m.

Tampico Looking To Add Public Works Employee, Garbage Rate To Increase

Utilities Clerk, Jamie McIntire said customers have not seen a fee increase in the service since 2001. She added that there will be no further increases until the current contract with Republic Services out of Dixon expires in June of 2024. Residents will be notified via their utility bill when the increase will go into affect.

Prophetstown Approves Ward Redistricting

City Atty. Tim Zollinger asked the Council to consider redistricting the wards during the November meeting saying there was "too much of a gap" in the number of residents in each ward. "By state statute and the Constitution the city should have relatively equal population in each ward", Zollinger stated.

The Village of Tampico is currently seeking a part-time (expected to work up to 30+ hours), which could lead to full-time, employee for their Public Works Department.

Erie Board Hires Hawk As New Chief

The board approved to pay $1,250 to Brian Hawk as a bonus for acting as interim chief from October 22nd to the end of November. It was also unanimously approved to increase the on-call wage from $4.00 to $5.00.

Lyndon Appoints New trustee

Village Deputy Clerk, Melissa Ince, updated the board on the progress of a grant application to fund a bandshell/event pavilion at Richmond Park. To date the village has received just over 100 responses to an interest survey with approximately 90% of the returns in favor of the project. The grant is through T-Mobile in the amount of $80,000, which would cover the entire cost of the project.

Shekleton explained that Jo-Carroll now serves multiple counties including Whiteside with electricity, natural gas, and now high-performance Internet. Sand Prairie Broadband is the Internet branch of the company.

Prophetstown Council Hears Business Expansion Request

VanDyke told the Council the couple has had no luck in finding additional suitable space in town and would like to build a warehouse facility that would be used for shipping and receiving while maintaining their storefront operation.
