Patrick J. Cavanagh, 72, of Port Byron, IL, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 4, 2022, while visiting St. Joseph, Michigan.

James E. Johnson 91, of Erie, IL, died Saturday, January 1, 2022 at Allure of Prophetstown in Prophetstown, IL.

One of the huge projects for the Village of Erie is the celebration of its 150th birthday. The centennial celebration was a huge multi-event affair in 1972 involving the whole community. There is a Sesquicentennial planning meeting Tuesday, January 24th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Village Hall.

Joseph Jay Besse, 99, of Erie IL, died Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Morrison Community Hospital, Morrison, IL

The board approved to pay $1,250 to Brian Hawk as a bonus for acting as interim chief from October 22nd to the end of November. It was also unanimously approved to increase the on-call wage from $4.00 to $5.00.

ECUSD was given a 4.0 financial health profile score, the highest rating the ISBE gives districts. Some of the rated factors include long term debt (ECUSD has no debt), cash on hand, and a surplus of revenues, among other considerations.
