Braiden Brooks, a senior at Prophetstown High School, was recently notified that he is receiving a $10,000 scholarship to attend Midwest Technical Institute. He received the largest scholarship among a field of twenty-three applicants.

Braiden’s parents, Kelly and Jeremy, arranged a family birthday party as a cover for a surprise in-person presentation by Ellen Bassler, an admissions representative from the school.

Brooks will study HVAC at the Moline campus beginning in June and complete the program in February of 2022.

The senior had to submit a video explaining why he deserved the scholarship and complete an interview with a representative from the institute.
