First, I have to give credit to my son Josh for the idea of bringing news and information to a small town on a web platform. It is very unique for a small community to have such a resource.
My wife, Sue, and I grew up in the area and both attended Prophetstown High School. I went to Southern Illinois University Carbondale and received a bachelor’s degree in radio & television. I then began my 20-year career as a TV photojournalist working in Greensboro, NC; Oklahoma City, OK; and then 17 years at the NBC affiliate in St. Louis.
I then decided to pursue a teaching career and received a master’s degree in elementary education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. I have taught many grade levels as well as junior high science during the past 12 years.
After beginning to cover local activities on Facebook, I decided to move my endeavor to the web and make it a full-time job.
My goal is to serve the local area with most accurate information available allowing citizens to be well informed on issues that affect them.
