Rock River Hospice & Home is proud to present the 31st Annual Festival of Trees, presented by Sterling Commercial Roofing, Breck & Sheri Loos and CGH Medical Center. Due to the current health pandemic, the Festival of Trees has been working hard to accommodate as many events as possible, but realize that things will not be the same this year, albeit some events will look very familiar.
The Festival of Trees will be hosting some activities at Northland Mall, while all of the silent auction bidding will take place online. The ever-popular Country Store, sponsored by Sterling Federal Bank, Johnson Oil Co., and the CGH Caring Fund, will be held November 12-21 at Northland Mall, with guidelines for masking, social distancing and capacity restrictions in place for visitors and volunteers. The store will be packed with great gift items and holiday decorations, also available will be the popular Terri Lynn nuts and candies, perfect for your holiday baking or used as stocking stuffers.
There will be a limited number of trees decorated this year and on display in the storefronts at Northland Mall for viewing only. Bidding for all trees, table settings, and silent auction items will be conducted through an online auction, which can be accessed through www.hospicerockriver.org or the Rock River Hospice & Home Facebook Page.
The yearly Memorial Ornaments are available now for advance purchase and the Tree of Memories will be displayed at the hospice office. Viewing of the Tree of Memories will be available from the outside only.
Unfortunately, the annual Gala Evening will not take place in person. A Holiday Wish-List Non-Gala Event, sponsored by US Bank and Astec Mobile Screens will be held, collecting donations for hospice services for patients and needs of Rock River Hospice & Home. A listing of wish list items can be found at www.hospicerockriver.org.
Newly added this year is the Holiday Hustle Virtual 5K event. Registration for the event is $25 and includes a long-sleeve t-shirt. Participants are encouraged to complete a 5K anytime during the week of Nov. 30-Dec. 5. Adding to the fun, participants are encouraged to dress in fun holiday attire, snap a photo of themselves during their 5K and post to Facebook or Instagram, tagging Rock River Hospice and Home and using the hashtag #FOTHolidayHustle and one random winner will receive a $25 gift certificate.
The Festival of Trees is the largest fundraiser for Rock River Hospice & Home and continues to need support. This event benefits compassionate, quality hospice care for the terminally ill and their families who reside in our communities of Bureau, Carroll, Lee, Ogle and Whiteside counties. The generosity of our sponsors and community enables Rock River Hospice & Home to continue to provide experienced care to terminally ill patients without cost to them or their families. Monetary gifts of any size are always appreciated.
Updates for the Festival of Trees can be found at www.hospicerockriver.org or the Rock River Hospice & Home Facebook Page.
